Cabinet Painting and Refinishing in Cypress, TX

Keep the layout you like. Lose the dated color. Sprayed, factory grade cabinet finishes from a crew that has painted Cypress homes for over 30 years.

Your kitchen layout works. The cabinet boxes are solid. The doors just look tired.

Replacing a full set of cabinets in a Cypress home is a five figure decision. Refinishing the ones you already own is not. Cypress Supreme Painting strips, preps, and sprays existing cabinetry to a hard, factory grade finish. You keep the layout you like. You lose the dated color.

We are a family and veteran owned painting company. We have worked on Cypress homes for more than 30 years. Attention to detail is our top priority, and cabinets are where that shows fastest.

What Cabinet Refinishing Actually Involves

Cabinet work is not wall painting with smaller brushes. It is a controlled finishing process.

1

Remove and Label

Every door, drawer front and piece of hardware comes off and gets labeled. Boxes stay in place and get masked. Doors move to a dedicated spray setup where dust and overspray are controlled.

2

Degrease and Scuff Sand

Kitchen cabinets carry years of cooking film that no primer will bond through. Every surface is degreased, then scuff sanded to break the existing sheen.

3

Substrate Matched Primer

Solid maple, oak, birch, thermofoil and factory laminate each need different bonding primers. Using one primer for all of them is how peeling jobs start.

4

Sprayed Topcoats

Topcoats are sprayed, not brushed. Spray application is what produces the smooth, showroom cabinet look. Brush marks on a door front are visible from across a room.

Who This Is Right For

Refinishing works when the boxes are sound and the layout still suits you. That describes most kitchens in Cypress subdivisions built from the 1990s onward.

It is a strong fit if you have honey oak or golden maple cabinets from the original build. It is a strong fit if a previous owner picked a color you never wanted. It works well before a sale, when a dated kitchen is the thing buyers comment on.

It also works for bathroom vanities, built in bookcases, laundry cabinetry, and mudroom lockers. Those get overlooked and they age the same way.

Kitchen Cabinets

Uppers, lowers, islands and pantry doors finished as one matched set.

Bathroom Vanities

Moisture resistant finishes for the cabinetry that takes the most daily abuse.

Built Ins and Bookcases

Fireplace surrounds, office built ins and shelving brought back to a clean, even finish.

Laundry and Mudroom

Lockers, cubbies and utility cabinetry that rarely get attention until the rest of the house is done.

When Refinishing Is Not the Right Call

We will tell you when painting is the wrong answer. That honesty costs us jobs and keeps our reviews where they are.

Refinishing cannot fix water damaged particleboard. If sink base panels are swollen or crumbling, the box needs replacement first. Paint over swollen board and it will fail within a year.

It cannot change your layout. If the island is too small or the pantry sits in the wrong place, paint will not fix that.

Some thermofoil doors are already delaminating at the corners. Once the film lifts, the substrate underneath is rarely worth finishing. We will show you what we see before you commit.

Lead Safe Work in Older Cypress Homes

Most of Cypress is newer construction. Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Cypress Creek Lakes and Blackhorse Ranch were all built well after lead paint was banned in housing.

Older pockets are different. Parts of Cypress along Huffmeister and nearby Jersey Village include homes built before 1978. Those fall under federal lead safe rules.

The rule, specifically. The EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule sits at 40 CFR Part 745, Subpart E. Under section 745.89, a firm doing renovation work for pay in pre 1978 housing must hold EPA firm certification. Under section 745.84, the homeowner must receive the Renovate Right pamphlet before the work starts.

There is a narrow exemption. Section 745.83 defines minor repair as disturbing six square feet or less of painted surface per interior room. Sanding a full kitchen of cabinets is far past that line.

If your home predates 1978, ask any painter for their EPA firm certification number before they sand anything. That question is a fast way to sort professionals from the rest.

Texas Does Not License Painters, So Verify Instead

Texas issues no statewide license for painting contractors. Cypress is unincorporated Harris County, so there is no city building department checking the work either.

That puts verification on you. Ask for proof of general liability insurance. Ask how long the company has held the same name and phone number. Ask to see finished cabinet work, not just wall jobs.

Cypress Supreme Painting is fully insured. Our work is visible in our painting photo gallery, and our Google profile carries our review history.

Finishes Built for Gulf Coast Kitchens

Humidity matters here more than it does in Dallas or Phoenix. A coating that cures fine in a dry climate can stay soft for weeks in a Cypress August.

We select waterborne finishes rated for cabinetry and trim. They block cooking moisture, resist the heat that rolls off a range, and wipe clean without dulling.

Cure time is not the same as dry time. Doors feel dry in hours. The film keeps hardening for two to three weeks. We tell you how to treat the kitchen during that window. Fingerprints press into a young finish easily.

Color, Chosen Properly

White remains the most requested cabinet color in Cypress. Two tone kitchens are close behind, usually a darker island against lighter perimeter cabinets. Deep green and navy lowers keep gaining ground.

Cabinet color has to work against your counters, backsplash and floor. It also has to survive your kitchen lighting, which is rarely neutral.

If you want help deciding, our color consultation service exists for exactly that. We sample on your doors, in your kitchen, under your lights.

The Owner Is On These Jobs

Geoffrey Neddeau leads Cypress Supreme Painting. The company is family and veteran owned, and cabinet work is the service where crew discipline shows most clearly.

Cabinets get inspected up close, every single day, by the people who paid for them. That is why our prep steps are not negotiable.

Serving Cypress and the Surrounding Area

We work throughout Cypress in 77429 and 77433, and across Harris County. That includes Tomball, Katy, Spring, Jersey Village, Waller, Magnolia and the Houston metro.

Cabinet refinishing pairs naturally with the rest of an interior refresh. Many clients combine it with interior residential painting or a broader kitchen painting project. Exterior work is handled through our exterior residential painting service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does cabinet painting take in a typical Cypress kitchen?

Most kitchens run four to seven working days. Larger kitchens with heavy grease or failing prior finishes take longer.

Can you paint over cabinets that were already painted once?

Usually yes. We test adhesion first. If the previous coating is peeling or was applied without primer, it has to come off.

Will the finish chip around the handles?

Not if it is prepped and sprayed correctly. The film keeps hardening for two to three weeks, so we ask you to be gentle during that period.

Do you paint the cabinet boxes as well as the doors?

Yes. Boxes are masked and finished in place while doors are sprayed off site.

Can you paint thermofoil or laminate cabinets?

Often yes, with the right bonding primer. If the thermofoil is already peeling from the substrate, we will tell you it is not a good candidate.

Is my house old enough to need lead safe procedures?

If it was built before 1978, yes. Most Cypress subdivisions are newer, but we confirm the build year before we start sanding.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. Estimates are free, and we look at your actual cabinets rather than quoting from photographs.
